Nebraska senior pitcher Jordy Frahm threw a six-hit shutout as the Cornhuskers shut out Minnesota 4-0 Friday in Minneapolis. The Nebraska pitching staff has dominated of late, allowing just two runs in the last 4.5 games and 29 innings.
Frahm (12-4) threw 93 pitches while striking out six and allowing no walks.
The Huskers (34-6, 15-1 Big Ten) jumped ahead in the top of the first 1-0 with a one-out solo home run from Hannah Coor. Then in the second, an RBI single to left by Frahm pushed the lead to 2-0. The NU offense went quiet in the middle three innings, notching no runs, no hits and just two walks. The Golden Gophers (14-28, 6-10 Big Ten) threatened in the fourth with two on and none out before Frahm wriggled out of the jam.
Nebraska’s offense reignited in the sixth. Lauren Camenzind lined a single to left to drive in a run, pushing the lead to 3-0. Then in the seventh, a Hannah Camenzind RBI triple scored Coor and made it 4-0.
The Huskers have won nine in a row and 23 of the last 24 games. Nebraska and Minnesota will resume their series Saturday at 4 p.m. in Minneapolis. Pregame coverage begins at 3:45 p.m. on B-107.3.
