Nebraska freshman pitcher Alexis Jensen arned her second weekly award from the Big Ten Conference, as she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week by the conference office. Jensen powered the Cornhuskers to a three-game sweep of Wisconsin this past weekend, earning two of the three wins in the circle while allowing only one earned run and three hits over 11 innings pitched. She struck out 13 and walked four as Nebraska held the Badgers to just two runs for the entire three-game series. Jensen was also a force at the plate, homering in the Saturday game of the series. Jensen’s Freshman of the Week award goes with her Pitcher of the Week award, won March 16. It’s the fourth weekly award for a Husker softball player in the past five weeks. Along with Jensen’s two, Jordy Frahm has earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week twice. In addition, Hannah Camenzind was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week Feb. 23.
The Huskers have won eight in a row and 22 of their last 23 games. Nebraska travels to take on Minnesota Friday at 6 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. on 105.3 The Bone.
