No. 7 Nebraska softball finished off a dominant weekend in Madison, Wisc., with a 12-2, five-inning victory over Wisconsin Sunday. The Cornhuskers swept the Badgers in the three-game series, outscoring them 23-2 in the three-game set while shutting out Wisconsin for the first 20 innings of the series.

Ava Kuszak got Nebraska on the board with a two-run home run to left in the first inning. Then in the third, Alexis Jensen an RBI double to left-center, boosting the lead to 3-0. Kacie Hoffmann followed with an RBI single to make it 4-0. Then in the fourth, with runners first and third and one out, Hannah Camenzind stole second. The throw on her was wide of the base, hopping into the outfield to score Jordy Frahm, opening a 5-0 lead. The Badgers finally scored their first run of the series with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth, shrinking the NU lead to 5-1.

Then in the top of the fifth, a fielder’s choice and an error allowed a Husker run to score. Later in the inning, Jordy Frahm launched a grand slam to center field, boosting the lead to 10-1. Kuszak followed with her second two-run home run of the day, pusing the lead to 12-1 Nebraska. Wisconsin scored once in the fifth, but couldn’t pull any closer.

Alexis Jensen (17-2) earned the win, allowing one earned run in four innings. Jensen was also 2-for-3 with two doubles at the plate. Both Frahm and Kuszak were 2-for-4. Kuszak had two home runs, while Frahm had a homer and a double. Nebraska has won 22 of the last 23 games and has swept four of its five series in Big Ten play.
