No. 24 Oregon baseball rallied for three runs in the sixth to down No. 19 Nebraska 5-4 Sunday in Eugene, Ore., in the rubber game of a hard-fought, three-game series. The three games were decided by a combined four runs.
Case Sanderson homered to get the Cornhuskers on the board in the top of the first. Angel Laya answered with a home run for the Ducks in the second to tie the game at one. In the top of the third, Jeter Worthley ripped a two-run double to left to give NU the lead back. Sanderson followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 4-1. The score held there until the bottom of the sixth, when Laya homered again. Burke-Lee Mabeus doubled down the left-field line to tie the game at four. Then Jack Brooks singled to left to score the go-ahead run, and the Oregon bullpen made the one-run lead hold up in the final three innings.
Worthley and Sanderson both had two hits and two RBI to lead the Nebraska offense.
The Huskers are next in action Tuesday at Hawks Field against Creighton. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m., with pregame coverage at 5:30 p.m. on KLIN.
