Project “O” Street is set to redesign one of Lincoln’s busiest corridors, and residents are invited to learn more about the project Tuesday, April 7, at an informational open house.

The pre-construction open house will be hosted from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of Union Bank Place, 1248 “O” Street.

Through the project, the City plans to replace aging water mains, repair and resurface streets and sidewalks, and install new amenities along both “O” Street and the 14th Street Music District.

Members of the project team will be available to answer questions and explain planned improvements, project phasing, and the construction schedule.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities says construction has been scheduled to avoid the busiest times downtown, including football season and major community events.

No formal presentation is planned. The project’s general construction schedule is as follows:

  • Phase 1 Spring 2026 – Late Fall 2026
  • Phase 2 Fall 2026 – Late Spring 2027
  • Phase 3 Spring 2027 – Fall 2027

Traffic changes on “O” Street between 16th and 13th streets began on April 5. Westbound lanes are currently closed for tree removal and pre-construction work, while one lane in each direction will remain open to traffic.
