Lincoln Police have made two arrests in connection with an assault that happened at a bus stop in mid-January.  LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says on March 20 investigators cited and booked lodged 24-year-old Sterling James of Lincoln, who was already in jail on murder charges.

On March 23 officers located 41-year-old William Hill of Lincoln. He was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. Thomas says around 6:30 a.m. on  January 13,  Lincoln Police responded to an aggravated assault by the bus stop near SW 26th and W. South streets.

“Witnesses told officers three unknown individuals wearing masks assaulted a man when he approached the bus stop by tackling him to the ground, hitting and kicking him, and striking him with a baseball bat,” Thomas says.

“They then ran to a waiting white SUV at SW 27th which drove away.”  The victim, a 50-year-old Lincoln man, was taken to the hospital for injuries including broken ribs, a laceration to the top of the head which required staples, severe swelling and bruising.
