The Nebraska baseball team evened its series with Michigan in resounding fashion, as the Cornhuskers throttled the Wolverines, 10-0, Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich., to even the Big Ten series at one game each, heading into Sunday’s rubber game. The game was stopped after seven innings by the mercy rule.
Dylan Carey paced the Nebraska offense, hitting 3-for-3 with four RBI. Rhett Stokes was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Drew Grego and Jett Buck were both 2-for-4 with an RBI each. Carson Jasa (4-1) was masterful on the mound, scattering six hits over six shutout innings while striking out eight and walking just one. Chase Olson threw the final inning, surrendering just two hits while striking out one.
Carey got the Huskers on the board with a two-run single in the first inning. In the third, Miken Miller boosted the lead to three with a sacrifice fly, sparking a three-run inning. In the fourth, Carey ripped a two-run triple to right-center. Miller followed with an RBI triple, pushing the lead to 8-0. Grego followed with an RBI single, tallying NU’s fourth fourth-inning run. A Buck sacrifice fly in the fifth pushed the lead to 10 and brought the mercy rule into effect.
The Huskers and Michigan will square off in the rubber game of the three-game series Sunday in Ann Arbor, Mich. First pitch was moved up to 10 a.m. due to expected bad weather, with pregame coverage at 9:30 a.m. on KLIN.
