Jordy Frahm pitched a two-hit shutout with a season-high 12 strikeouts to propel No. 9 Nebraska softball to a 2-0 win over Michigan State Friday in East Lansing, Mich. The victory was the Cornhuskers’ (22-5, 4-0 Big Ten) 11th straight and the 18th in the last 19 games for NU.

Frahm stifled the Spartans’ (13-14, 0-4 Big Ten), not allowing a single MSU runner to reach second base. Meanwhile, the Nebraska offense had opportunities seemingly every inning, but struggled to cash them in for runs despite piling up 11 hits. The Huskers left 13 runners on base while hitting 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Nebraska stranded three runners in the first two innings. Then in the third, with the bases loaded and one out, Ava Kuszak hit a sacrifice fly to right, driving in the first run of the game. The Huskers left the bases loaded in the third. Then in the fifth, with two out, Jesse Farrell celebrated her return to the lineup after a four-game absence due to the concussion protocol with a home run to left, boosting Nebraska’s lead to 2-0. The Huskers left the bases loaded in the sixth and two on in the seventh, but Frahm’s dominance made those two runs hold up.

Farrell paced the Nebraska offense, hitting 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. Hannah Camenzind and Alexis Jensen were both 2-for-3 with a walk. Hannah Coor was 2-for-4 in the No. 7 spot in the order.

The Huskers and the Spartans will play a doubleheader Saturday to wrap up the series. First pitch is slated for noon.
