Alert neighbors called 911 after seeing smoke and flames coming from a detached garage near 18th and Lake Streets around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. “We arrived and had some smoke and fire in that garage,” says Battalion Chief Jim Bopp.
“We quickly knocked it down, it hasn’t spread anywhere.” Bopp says. Right now Bopp says the amount of damage and the cause of the fire are not yet known. No one was home when the fire broke out.
