One day after completing the 2025-26 regular season, Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg signed a three-year contract extension, the Nebraska Athletic Department announced Monday. The extension keeps Hoiberg under contract at NU through the 2031-32 season. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Hoiberg signed the extension one day after leading the Cornhuskers to their school-record-tying 26th win of the regular season, beating Iowa 84-75 in overtime. The win boosted Nebraska to the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. Hoiberg led the Huskers to the 2024 NCAA Tournament, the first appearance in March Madness for NU in a decade, then guided Nebraska to the championship of the first-ever Crown Basketball Tournament last year. He’s also led the Huskers to three straight 20-win seasons for the first time in program history.
“Fred Hoiberg is a tremendous representative of the University of Nebraska, the Lincoln community, and our state. We are extremely proud that he will continue to lead the Nebraska men’s basketball program well into the future,” Nebraska athletic director Troy Dannen said in a statement. “Fred has built this program step by step and his leadership has Nebraska positioned to continue to compete at a high level in the Big Ten Conference and nationally. Fred is one of the most respected coaches in the country by his peers, and his success has been recognized throughout the college basketball world.”
