A trail near the railroad bridge in Lincoln destroyed last week by an unattended campfire is now open.

Following the quick rebuild of the nearly 100-year-old bridge over Salt Creek, just west of Pinnacle Bank Arena, the paved portion of the Salt Creek Levee Trail that runs under the bridge reopened to foot traffic Thursday.

Lincoln Parks and Rec still recommends that trail users exercise caution in the area as crews complete the final stages of site cleanup. The trail had been closed since Feb. 23 to allow for bridge repairs.

This portion of the trail runs under two railroad bridges west and southwest of the Breslow Hockey Center.
