The playground area in Woods Park was off limits for a time Thursday afternoon after the LFR bomb squad was called to investigate a suspicious item. Battalion Chief Jim Bopp tells KLIN News someone called 911 after finding the item near the outdoor workout area.
Bopp says a Hazardous Device Team tech suited up and checked out the device which turned out to be two bricks taped together. “This one was a little unique because it had two colors of tape going different directions.
He says the decided to play it safe and brought the team in. “Fortunately, it was just two bricks.” Several park walkers enjoying the spring-like weather had to detour around the area until the operations was complete.
