Flu activity continues to run high in Lancaster County according to the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department.  “We are seeing that Influenza A is decreasing while Influenza B is increasing, which is fairly typical of flu seasons,”  says health director Kerry Kernen.

She tells KLIN News this past week the flu positively rate was 30 percent.  “The week before it was 29 percent and the week before that 24.1 percent.”  She says all flu seasons trend a little differently, depending on how the virus mutates and impacts the community.

“I think we’re going to see this around for awhile.”  Kernen stresses that it’s not to late to get the flu shot vaccine and recommends staying at home if you feel sick, cover you mouth if you’re coughing or sneezing  and frequently wash your hands.

She also says RSV cases are fluctuating this year, but the numbers are much lower than this time last year.
