Lincoln Public Schools announced on Wednesday that Gary Czapla will be the next principal at Northwest High School.
Czapla currently serves as the Moore Middle School principal. He began his educational career in 1993 and served as principal at Culler Middle School from 2010 to 2017, at which time he moved to Moore Middle to help open the school. Czapla earned his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Czapla will begin his new duties at Northwest High School on July 1, 2026. He succeeds former principal Cedric Cooper, who announced he accepted new position at Omaha Benson High School earlier this month.
Northwest is the newest high school in Lincoln Public Schools, having opened its doors in 2022 to classes of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. The school graduated its inaugural senior class of 155 falcons in 2024.
