Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews battled a house fire late Saturday night near South 14th and Saltillo Road. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the owner came home from work around 10:40 and found the house on fire.
Lierman says an overloaded extension cord from a portable heater sparked the fire. She says two dogs and a cat were killed and the house is a total loss with damage estimated at $75,000. No firefighters were injured fighting the flames.
