Early vote application forms have been mailed out to 60,000 voters in Lancaster County, the Election Commission announced Thursday.
Commissioner Todd Wiltgen tells KLIN News that voters on the permanent early vote request list should expect to receive the postcard-size form in their mailboxes within the next few days.
Applications for partisan voters—Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and Legal Marijuana NOW—will be pink, and nonpartisan applications will be blue. Nonpartisan voters will have the option to request a nonpartisan-partisan ballot.
Voters who do not receive an early vote postcard application may obtain the form on the Election Commission’s website. Voters may also contact the Election Commission Office by calling (402) 441-7311 or emailing earlyvote@lancaster.ne.gov and the office will mail an application to them.
Voters may also request an early vote ballot be mailed to them by submitting a letter with all the required information to the Election Commission.
In addition to providing their name, address and signature, voters must also include either a Nebraska Driver’s License or State Identification Number; a photocopy of another valid photo identification; or a reasonable impediment certification. For more information on voter ID is available at sos.nebraska.gov.
Voters may return their completed and signed application or letter by mail. They may also drop them off at any drop box location listed below:
- Election Commissioner’s Building – 601 North 46th Street
- Anderson Branch Library – 3635 Touzalin Avenue
- Eiseley Branch Library – 1530 Superior Street
- Gere Branch Library – 2400 South 56th Street
- Walt Branch Library – 6701 South 14th Street
A scanned copy or readable photo of the request may also be emailed to earlyvote@lancaster.ne.gov.
Monday, April 6, will be the first day early vote ballots will be mailed for the May 12 Statewide Primary Election.
Commissioner Wiltgen reminds early voters they should request ballots be mailed to where they will be staying in April and early May. The U.S. Postal Service will not forward or hold ballots. They will be returned to the Election Commission as undeliverable.
The deadline to submit a request for an early vote ballot by mail for the Primary Election is 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
Individuals who have questions should contact the Election Commissioner’s Office at (402) 441-7311.
