A tough stretch continued for Nebraska women’s basketball as the Cornhuskers lost at No. 8 Michigan, 88-76, Wednesday in Ann Arbor, Mich. The loss was Nebraska’s fifth in the last seven games and the seventh in the last 11 games for the Huskers, who fell to 16-7 overall and 5-7 in the Big Ten.

Britt Prince and Amiah Hargrove both scored 16 points to lead Nebraska. Hargrove flirted with a double-double, grabbing eight rebounds. Petra Bozan contributed 12 points for the Huskers. The Wolverines (20-3, 11-1 Big Ten) were led by 28 points by Syla Swords, who was 11-for-23 shooting. Olivia Olson tallied 21 and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. Meanwhile, Ashley Sofilkanich nearly had a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Michigan won the battle down low, outrebounding Nebraska, 40-25, while outscoring the Huskers in the paint, 42-30.

The Huskers led after one quarter, 25-24, and took a 44-42 lead to halftime. The Wolverines surged in the third quarter, grabbing a 69-64 lead through three periods. Four times in the fourth quarter, Nebraska cut Michigan’s lead to five points, the last time at 79-74 with 3:40 to play. But the Wolverines finished the Huskers with a 9-2 run to capture the victory.

Nebraska is next in action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Maryland at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:30 p.m. on B-107.3.
