The annual Nebraska Walk for Life will return for its 53rd year this weekend.

The 2026 parade, organized by the pro-life organization Nebraska Right to Life, is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the north steps of the State Capitol.

After a rally on the steps, featuring a cadre of state and federal representatives and Virginia state representative and conservative influencer Nick Freitas, the walk will begin. Participants will then walk to the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel, where Freitas will deliver the keynote address at 11:30 a.m.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities says several streets will close for the parade:

  • 8 a.m. to noon – “K” Street between 14th and 15th streets
  • 9 a.m. to noon – 13th Street between “L” and “M” streets

Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detours and use alternate routes. For more information on street closures, visit lincoln.ne.gov/closures.

The event is designed to commemorate the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe vs. Wade decision on January 22, 1973. The event historically draws large attendance from residents and pro-life politicians in the state.

The evening before the event, organizers will host a Nebraska Walk for Life Gala at 5:30 p.m. at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln.
