Since 2014 the Nebraska Diaper Bank has supported thousands of families who struggle financially. Marketing and Communications Coordinator Jael Coffey says diapers are a hidden need in Lincoln and across the state.

“Just like people need food, the need diapers to make sure their babies are healthy and thriving and just think about the mom counting down the next time her baby eats and how many diapers she has left in her bag.”

Coffey says every month their non-profit distributes more than 300,000 diapers to 5,000 babies across the state.   “We have around 34 partners in 69 locations and our partner in Lincoln is Center For People.”

The diapers are stored in a large warehouse in Omaha and partner agencies come and pick them up.  For agencies further away, they have a diaper van that makes deliveries.  Diapers aren’t covered by government assistance programs like WIC and SNAP, so to maintain their supply, Coffey says the need the community’s support.

She says all sizes of diapers are needed, but they are especially asking for sizes four, five and six because they are harder to keep in stock and babies stay in them longer.  Coffey says if you can make a diaper or financial donation click here.  They are also in need of volunteers.
