Nebraska women’s basketball shot well from behind the arc (11-for-21, 52 percent) and cruised to a 89-73 win over Northwestern Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Cornhuskers (16-5, 5-5 Big Ten) have won back-to-back games after dropping five of seven.
Britt Prince led Nebraska in scoring with 28 points on 10-for-15 shooting while adding six assists and six rebounds. Logan Nissley added 14 points including four three-pointers. Amiah Hargrove contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Callin Hake added 13 points. The Wildcats (8-13, 2-8 Big Ten) were led by Tayla Thomas with 19 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the free-throw line. Grace Sullivan tallied 16 points, Casey Harter added 14 and Caroline Lau scored 11.
The Huskers’ hot shooting gave them an early lead, knocking down 7-of-9 three-pointers in the first half. Nebraska led most of the first quarter, but only by four or fewer. The Huskers led 15-13 with 3:35 to go in the first quarter, then ended the quarter on a 13-4 run, culminating with a three-pointer by Hake, followed by a half-court three from Nissley to push the lead to 28-17 through one quarter.
After a Wildcats free throw to start the second quarter, Nebraska went on an 8-0 run to open a 36-18 lead with 7:39 to go in the first half. Northwestern answered with a 7-0 run to cut the Huskers lead to 36-25 with 5:49 to go in the second quarter. The lead stayed in double-digits the remainder of the second quarter. Nebraska stayed comfortably ahead throughout the third quarter, leading 69-55 through three periods. The Huskers lead never shrunk smaller than 12 in the fourth quarter.
