A chaotic incident over the weekend resulted in the arrest of two people outside of a Lincoln fast food restaurant.

On Sunday, January 25, just before 9 p.m., Lincoln Police officers were called to the McDonald’s on West ‘O’ Street, on a report of a “fight in progress.”

LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas said arriving officers determined that a 19-year-old Lincoln man and a 36-year-old Lincoln man were outside on a smoke break when 36-year-old Carl Miller came up and attempted to fight one of them. Shortly after, 22-year-old Mallaiyh Atkins also got involved, pushing and hitting the victims.

“The 36-year-old victim was struck multiple times during the fight and had multiple cuts on his face and neck. The 19-year-old victim was punched in the face,” Thomas said.

The officers attempted to detain both suspects, but both resisted. During the struggle, Miller kneed an officer in the groin and Atkins started kicking vehicles, and kicked an officer in the face and chest once inside a cruiser.

Both were taken to the Lancaster County Jail. Atkins is charged with felony 3rd degree assault on an officer, two counts of 3rd degree assault, and resisting arrest. Miller is charged with felony 3rd degree assault on an officer, 3rd degree assault, and resisting arrest.
