Pius X Catholic High School has announced the hiring of Michael Grindey as the school’s new Head Football Coach.

School officials say Grindey brings experience in player development and strength training, with previous stops at Concordia University, the University of Nebraska, and Benedictine College.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Grindey to Lincoln Pius X. It was clear from the beginning that Michael’s leadership, vision, and commitment to developing young men, both on and off the field, align perfectly with our Catholic values. We are confident that he is the right person to build on the storied history of Pius X football,” said Trevor Johnson, Athletic Director.

“I look forward to building relationships with players, parents, and the community. Go Bolts!” said Grindey.

Grindey is a graduate of Brophy College Prep and began his coaching career in his home state of Arizona.  At Concordia University, he was a two-time All GPAC linebacker, and then he worked with Husker football in strength and conditioning.

He most recently comes from Benedictine College, where he served as a football graduate assistant while pursuing his Masters in Classical Education. This past season, Benedictine football reached the national semi-finals in the NAIA post-season tournament.

Grindey will lead the Thunderbolts into the upcoming season.
