Despite the current winter weather, Lincoln families can look ahead and register for summer day camps this Monday.

Several familiar programs are returning this year. Families can learn more about the camps provided are encouraged to attend the Summer Day Camp Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 26, at the Auld Pavillion in Antelope Park (1650 Memorial Drive). Youth can participate in Minute to Win it games while families learn about programs. Staff and translators will be available to help answer questions and assist parents in registering their children.

Online registration for all programs open on Jan. 26 at 10 a.m., at lincoln.ne.gov/DayCamps. Program details are listed below.

Summer Day Camps run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, June 1 through August 7. Fees are $225 for five-day sessions. Fees are $180 for the two four-day sessions, June 15-18 and June 29-July 2. A $25 non-refundable enrollment fee is included in the weekly cost. Elementary and middle school-age youth can be registered for the entire summer or on a week-to-week basis. Weekly activities include swimming, arts and crafts, active games, and field trips. Camps are hosted at the following locations:

  • Air Park Community Center (4900 Mike Scholl Street) – 402-441-7876

  • Calvert Recreation Center (4500 Stockwell Street) – 402-441-8480

The “F” Street Youth Program at the “F” Street Community Center (1225 “F” Street) is a clubs-based program for youth who have completed fifth through eighth grades. Clubs are offered from 1 to 3 p.m. and include sports, STEM, fine arts, weightlifting, content creation, gardening, Make A Difference, Monday Madness, and much more. Youth are welcome to stay at the Center for Drop-In Programs until 8 p.m. weekdays for no additional cost.

Additional program details include:

  • Fees are $5 per week and the program runs June 1 through August 7. There is a one-time enrollment fee of $25 due at the time of registration. Fees include club activities and supplies, snacks and dinner each evening, transportation, and entrance fees. Some optional field trips may require additional fees.
  • Swimming is offered twice a week.
  • There are no camps on June 19 or the week of July 4.

Nature Camps at the Pioneers Park Nature Center (3201 S. Coddington Avenue) are offered weekly June 1 through August 7. Camps are open to youth age 3 years through eighth grade and use the outdoors to inspire curiosity and build an understanding of others and of their surroundings. Fees vary on camp program and length of session. Fees include a $25 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit due at the time of registration. Scholarships are available.

Three nature camps include:

  • Discovery (age 3 through 6): Offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, June 1-4, June 8-11, June 15-18, June 22-25, June 29-July 2, July 6-9, July 13-16, and July 20-23. The fee is $120 per child per session.
  • Explorer (completed kindergarten through grade five): Offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 1-5, June 8-12, June 15-17, June 22-26, June 29-July 1, July 13-17, July 20-24, July 27-31, and Aug 3-7. The fee is $239 per five-day week or $144 per three-day week per child, per session.
  • Navigators (completed grades six through eight): Offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 22-26, June 29-July 1, and July 6-10. The fee is $144 per three-day week and $239 per five-day week per child.

Adaptive Recreation Day Camps provide fun, structured, social opportunities for growth and building friendships for individuals with special needs. Programs provide traditional day camp experiences including individual attention and inclusive activities.

  • Adaptive Art Camp is offered from 9 a.m. to noon June 1 through 5 for campers ages 13 to 21. This weeklong camp includes projects in a variety of mediums and ends with an art show for family and friends. Fee is $90.
  • Drama Camp is offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8 through 12 for campers ages 13 to 21. Campers will prepare a play by running lines, blocking scenes, creating the set design and costumes. The camp ends with a showcase performance for family and friends. Fee is $120. Extended care hours are available from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • SumFun Camp is offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from June 15-18, June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17 for children who have completed kindergarten through age 21. Campers will connect with new and old friends in this fun, classic camp environment with activities including games, swimming, field trips, crafts, and music. Individual weekly fee is $100, and four-day weeks are $80. Extended care hours are available from 2 to 4 p.m.
