Tuesday marked an important moment for the animals in the care of staff at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium as the Bill and Berniece Grewcock Animal Hospital officially opened.
“With the health and wellbeing of the animals at the center, the 32,000-square-foot hospital gives our veterinary and animal care teams the space and tools they need to deliver the highest level of care, from routine exams to lifesaving treatment, for our more than 39,000 animals across hundreds of species,” zoo officials said in a Facebook post.
Under one roof, the hospital brings together quarantine and hospitalization areas, intensive care unit wards, and an animal diet kitchen. A fully equipped pharmacy and in-house clinical pathology laboratory allow testing and results to happen in real time, enabling care plans to evolve as conditions change.
Two treatment rooms and a sterile surgical suite support everything from routine procedures to the most complex cases with focus and precision. To learn more about the animal hospital click here
