Lincoln Police have released some startling statistics from it’s recent “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says during the month of December officers arrested 117 impaired drivers.
“The highest blood alcohol content tested was a .346, which is more than four times the legal limit of .08,” Thomas says. “Of the DUI arrests, one was for a fourth offense, four were for third offense and eleven were for a second offense.”
Thomas says the average blood alcohol concentration of drivers arrested was .170. Ten of the arrests were individuals impaired by drugs other than alcohol. During the project, officers worked overtime and focused on impaired driving enforcement and apprehending impaired drivers.
The enforcement campaign was made possible by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
