Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews battled a fire inside a home near 73rd and Fairfax in northeast Lincoln around 10:30 Thursday morning. “Crews got here quickly and found a small fire in the bedroom,” says Public Information Officer MJ Lierman.
She tells KLIN news the resident was home and called 911 after smoke began filing up the ranch-style house. The owner was able to get out of the house safely with two pets. Lierman says the fire was contained to the bedroom. “The cause of the fire was an electrical failure of a mini refrigerator connected to the outlet it was plugged into.”
She says damage is estimated at $10,000 to the home and $2,000 to the contents of the bedroom.
