LFR says a man died in an an apartment fire early Tuesday morning near 14th and ‘H’ Streets. LFR Public Information Manager MJ Lierman tells KLIN News crews were called to the five story building around 1:15.
“They did find an apartment that was smoke filled and there was a small fire that was contained to the unit.” Lierman says they found the man dead on a couch and a cat that had also died. Lierman says the fire started near the couch, but the cause is not yet known.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. Lincoln Police will investigate the death and LFR is handling the fire investigation. Lierman says the smoke detectors in the apartment were not connected.
