Lincoln golfers are soaking up the sun and taking advantage of spring like weather to get in some bonus rounds at Highlands County Club. Director of Golf Denis Vontz tells KLIN News they have seen an influx in tee times since last month.
“We budgeted for about 900 rounds in December and we hit right at a thousand,” Vontz says. He also says their tee sheet is booked for Tuesday with 100 rounds scheduled. Vontz anticipates 150 golfers on Wednesday when temperatures could reach the low 60’s.
“People are coming in shorts and everything, this is crazy,” Vontz says. In addition to many of their regulars, Highlands has also been welcoming new faces. “Some of the private courses shut down in January so we see some of the country club members out here. It’s nice to see them and show them what we have here.”
Vontz says during the winter months they are open from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.
