Kenny Minchey was a Cornhusker (unofficially) for all of one day.
The former Notre Dame quarterback who had reportedly committed to Nebraska out of the portal has now flipped his commitment to Kentucky, according to reports by multiple media outlets.
Minchey was seen as a strong candidate, if not the frontrunner, to be the Huskers’ starting quarterback when his commitment was announced yesterday. With incumbent starter Dylan Raiola entering the transfer portal and freshman TJ Lateef, who struggled in his four starts at QB, as the only returning scholarship quarterback, the job seemed open for the taking for Minchey. But the junior-to-be signal caller reportedly flipped his commitment to Kentucky, closer to his hometown of Hendersonville, Tenn.
Nebraska now resumes efforts to recruit next year’s starting quarterback, most likely from the portal. Former Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles, former Florida QB DJ Lagway and UNLV QB Anthony Colandrea are most frequently listed as the next candidates.
