Firefighters battled detached garage fire in north Lincoln on Thursday, marking their second trip to the location in recent months.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer MJ Lierman said the garage at 31st and Potter Streets caught fire back on August 16. It was declared a total loss at the time, but the building had not been cleaned up yet.
Crews returned to the location around 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 1, after illegal use of fireworks nearby caught the destroyed building on fire, again.
“Crews put it out really quickly, ” said Lierman. “The inspector determined the cause to be fireworks, but he did not give a loss-value because it was valued a total loss before.”
Lierman said no injuries from Thursday fire were reported.
