The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office issued more than 150 citations and made three arrests during a year-end high-visibility enforcement campaign.

Funded through a mini-grant from the Nebraska highway safety office, the enforcement effort placed additional deputies on duty between Dec. 12 and Dec. 27, with a focus on impaired drivers.

In total, participating deputies contacted 211 vehicles, issued 153 official citations, issued 182 warning/defect cards, made 2 criminal arrests, and arrested 1 person for having an outstanding arrest warrant.

Official citations included 2 driving under the influence of alcohol, 1 possession of an open alcohol container, 7 driving during suspension, 101 speeding violations, 23 registration and insurance violations, 1 fictitious license plate violation, 6 seatbelt violations, 2 child restraint violations, and 10 various traffic law violations.

The criminal arrests included 2 people being arrested for minor in possession of alcohol.
