Lincoln police officers worked overtime hours during their seat belt enforcement effort November 26 through 30. It was part of the national “Make It Click” campaign and officers focused on ensuring drivers and passengers remained safe by enforcing Nebraska’s seat belt laws.
“The goal of the campaign was to reduce injuries and fatalities by encouraging proper seat belt use through high-visibility enforcement,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas. Officers conducted 50 traffic stops and wrote 68 citations.
They wrote 21 speeding citations and 24 for no registration. There were eight tickets written for no seat belts and five for no insurance. The enforcement effort was made possible through funding provided by our partners at the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
