The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is investigating after a dead body was found Wednesday in rural Furnas County.
The body was discovered on a rural farm north of Oxford. A representative of the farm’s owners was inspecting the property in preparation for sale and found the body in an outbuilding in one of the fields. The Furnas County Sheriff’s Office asked NSP to conduct the death investigation.
Crime scene investigators documented the scene and are working to identify the body.
“It was apparent that the person had been deceased for some time. Investigators believe there is no threat to the public,” said NSP Spokesman Cody Thomas in a statement.
The investigation remains ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
