For the fifth straight year Lincoln Police and the Clyde Malone Center are teaming up to bring holiday joy to needy families across Lincoln. Captain Tarvis Banks says through their Random Acts of Kindness Initiative officers will hand out 60 envelopes over the next two weeks and each one will contain $300

$300 could be a car getting repaired, a light bill getting paid versus not having lights,” Banks says.  “It could be gifts they didn’t have originally because they decided to pay bills instead.  It could mean everything to a family.”

In addition to officers handing out envelopes while on patrol, several families are selected at community centers that receive the envelopes. Anonymous donors contributed nearly $18,000 this year and 100 percent of the money goes directly to the families.

”There’s no overhead. There’s no salaries being paid out of it. There’s no cost for advertising. Just 100% of all the donations still go directly to the citizens.”  If you would like to make a donation to help families in need during the holidays click here.
