Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews responded to a fire at a mechanic shop near 2nd and Garfield just before 10:00 Tuesday morning. “There was a wood burning stove where the chimney went through the wall and started a small fire in the wall,” Acting Battalion Chief Jon Reed tells KLIN News.
Reed says firefighters were training nearby and were able to get to the scene and quickly extinguish the fire. LFR says someone at the shop was there at the time and called 911. No one was hurt and damage is estimated at $5,000.
The fire was contained to the wall.
