Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews respond to a report of smoke inside the Super 8 Hotel at 25th and Cornhusker around 10:00 Thursday night. Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the source of the fire was a water heater in a maintenance room.
She says the internal components of the heater had burned up. “Decent amount of smoke, but the damage was contained to the water heater,” Lierman says. “Crews helped to make sure everyone was evacuating properly.”
Lierman says firefighters were able to ventilate the building and the guests and employees were able to go back inside. The extent of damage is not yet known.
