Man Shot Inside Lincoln Casey’s Store Dies

By Tom Stanton Dec 4, 2025 | 12:41 PM

Lincoln Police say a man who was shot in the Near South neighborhood late Thursday morning has died.  Officers were sent to the Casey’s Store just after 11:00 and found one man with life-threatening injuries.

Another man, believed to be an innocent bystander, had non-life-threatening injuries.  Officers on scene began providing first aid to both victims before Lincoln Fire & Rescue took over life-saving measures. Both were taken to an area hospital where the man suffering life-threatening-injuries later died.

“The preliminary investigation and witness statements indicate there was a disturbance between the shooter and the victim who died in the parking lot prior to the shooting inside,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.  “The shooter stayed on scene, surrendered his firearm to officers and is cooperating with the investigation.”

The store will be closed for an extended period while investigators work through collecting physical and digital evidence from the scene.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency number at 402-441-6000. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600, report online at lincolncrimestoppers.com or download the free P3 app.
