Postal Service Releases Holiday Shipping Deadlines

By Tom Stanton Dec 1, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The holiday shopping season is underway and if you plan on sending cards, letters or packages this year, Nebraska US Postal Service spokesman Mark Inglett has some deadlines to make sure they arrive by Christmas.

December 17 is the last day for First Class Mail and USPS Ground Advantage and the following day for USPS Priority Mail.  December 20 is the deadline for USPS Priority Mail Express.  Inglett tells KLIN News they have hired more workers to handle the volume of packages they will process.

“We hired about 14,000 seasonal employees nationwide and we’ve already trained them and they’re ready to go.”  Inglett also says they also have about 200 new modernized processing facilities and they expect to handle about 88 million packages each day.

Inglett says you can track your package and get automatic e-mails or texts until the package arrives at your home.  He also says customers can print labels and send packages from home with Click-N-Ship.
