Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews responded to a fire at the Villa Tierra Apartments at 5010 Emerald Drive just after midnight Thanksgiving morning. Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the fire started on the stove of a third floor unit and spread into the walls.
Lierman says they were able to contain the fire to the one apartment unit and the occupants safely evacuated before firefighters arrived. She says there was smoke and water damage throughout the third floor and water damage on the first and second floors.
The Red Cross was called to relocate one resident and two visiting family members. Lierman says damage is estimated at $50,000.
