Lincoln Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in two separate cases: a pair of shoplifters at a local hardware store; the other involving an attempted assault over the belief a car was being stolen.

The first case occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Ace Hardware near 14th and Superior Streets.

LPD Video Forensics Technician Becky Keller said two men were seen acting suspiciously inside the store. They were both dressed in all black, hoods up, and faces covered with medical masks.

An employee followed them into an aisle and asked if they needed any assistance. They replied no. The employee then watched from afar as they loaded up multiple power tools under their arms and headed towards the front of the store.

The employee then tried to stop them from running out with the tools, but the first male pushed past her and exited the store, and the second male followed. A witness in the store who was also watching them, followed them around the corner to the Superior Place Apartments near 15th & Superior, where they got into a white Kia sedan as passengers.

See video and pictures from the incident below.

The second case occurred on Monday, November 10, 2025, near 14th and “D” Streets.

Keller says a man and woman were walking from their house to their car in the area when they noticed a running car in front of their residence, with nobody inside.

They thought this was odd but went about their business and continued to chat near their vehicle. A man approached them and accused them of trying to steal his vehicle, the one that was left running.

The man then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the male multiple times. Some words were exchanged and eventually the individual with the gun got into the car and left.

The car is described as a blue Hyundai Elantra with different colored wheels and a large white decal on the back window. There was visible front end damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle.

If you have information on either of these cases, contact Lincoln Police at (402) 441-6000 to speak with an officer, or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at (402) 475-3600. An anonymous tip can be left online through lincolncrimestoppers.com.
