Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson was named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2025 Doak Walker Award, given to college football’s best running back.

Johnson leads all power conference players with 1,431 yards from scrimmage. He’s rushed for 1,131 yards and 11 touchdowns, ranking fourth in the nation in rushing yards. He’s also made 30 catches for 300 yards and three touchdowns.

The semifinalist list includes the top six and seven of the top 10 rushers in the nation. No Husker has ever won the Doak Walker Award, though three have been named as finalists: Ameer Abdullah (2014), Ahman Green (1997) and Calvin Jones (1993). The award was created in 1990.
