A disappointing Sunday for No. 2 Nebraska wrestling as the Cornhuskers lost in the semifinals of the National Duals to No. 4 Ohio State, 33-3, then fell 33-6 to No. 5 Oklahoma State, 36-3. Nebraska finished fourth of the 16 teams in the event in Tulsa, Okla.
The semifinal match against the Buckeyes started poorly, with the first eight matches won by Ohio State. With the dual’s outcome no longer in doubt, 197-pound wrestler Camden McDanel won by decision over Seth Shumate, 8-2. A loss at heavyweight capped the dual loss to OSU.
The Cowboys dominated the early going of the dual, winning the first seven matches. A brief highlight for NU came at 184 pounds, when Silas Allred defeated No. 4 Zack Ryder in sudden victory time, 5-2. But that was the Huskers’ lone victory in the dual, as Oklahoma State won the final two matches of the dual.
Nebraska is next in action Dec. 5 at the Journeyman Duals in St. Charles, Mo., as the Huskers will face Brown at 6 p.m. and Missouri at 8 p.m.
