The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office says a routine traffic stop Sunday led to the discovery of more than two pounds of cocaine hidden inside a vehicle’s spare tire.
According to Sheriff Mark McFarland, a deputy pulled over a Jeep Cherokee around 12 p.m. on November 9 near the intersection of U.S. Highway 81 and County Road H for an equipment violation. During the stop, the deputy became suspicious of criminal activity and received consent from the driver to search the vehicle.
Inside the spare tire, the deputy found approximately 2.2 pounds of cocaine.
The driver, 24-year-old Samir Al-Sawami, and passenger, 24-year-old Dustin Huynh, both of Lincoln, were taken into custody without incident. They were booked into the Fillmore County Jail pending further court proceedings.
