Firth Couple Killed in Two Vehicle Crash South of Lincoln

By Tom Stanton Nov 13, 2025 | 8:52 AM

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says a man and wife from Firth were killed in a crash around 4:00 Wednesday afternoon at Highway 77 and Firth Road.  ” A Buick was traveling westbound on Firth Road and was crossing Highway 77,” says LSO Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.  “We don’t know if they were going to go straight or turn to go southbound.”

Houchin says the car pulled out onto Highway 77  from a stop sign and the driver of a Ford F-250 pickup had not time to react and t-boned the Buick.  The collision pushed the Buick into the northwest ditch and the Ford pickup came to rest in the median north of the intersection.

Houchin says 63-year-old Patrick Holley was the driver and died at the scene.  His wife, 63-year-old Penny Holley, died at a hospital. The driver of the pickup, 43-year-old Joseph Grant of Lincoln  was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection of Highway 77 & Firth Road was closed for approximately three hours while deputies investigated the crash. Alcohol and drug use are not suspected and deputies are still working to determine whether seat belts were used.
