Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and Lancaster County Health Director Kerry Kernen announced the opening of GoodToGo, a new reuse store offering free household products collected by the city’s HazToGo Hazardous Waste Center.

Located at 5101 N. 48th St., the store opens Friday, Nov. 14, and will operate 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and the third Saturday of each month.

“Through our new GoodToGo store, we offer useful products that make sense for both your home and your budget,” Gaylor Baird said. “As we make everyday items accessible for all families, we also support sustainability by reducing waste and preventing reusable materials from ending up in the landfill.”

Funded by a $1.3 million grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust, GoodToGo is an expansion of the existing HazToGo facility, allowing the two programs to work together to reuse household products such as motor oil, paint, cleaners, and fertilizers that are still safe and usable.

Kernen said the initiative will “reduce waste, reuse good products, and promote a more sustainable community,” noting that similar programs have diverted up to 10% more materials from landfills.

Assistant LTU Director Steve Owen said HazToGo has already served more than 3,500 households in 2025, diverting 130,000 pounds of hazardous materials from the Bluff Road Landfill. “Every effort we make to divert waste helps extend its life, reduce environmental impacts, and save taxpayer dollars,” he said.
