The City of Lincoln will honor veterans with a ceremony and walk on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11.

The 27th annual Veterans Walk of Recognition begins at 9:30 a.m. at the southwest corner of Memorial Stadium, ending at the Veterans Memorial Garden in Antelope Park. Flags will be placed throughout the garden, which is open daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Veterans Day Ceremony follows at 11 a.m. inside Auld Pavilion at Antelope Park, 1650 Memorial Drive.

City Council member Justin Carlson will deliver opening remarks. Captain Travis Borchardt of the Nebraska Army National Guard will be the keynote speaker. Gailen Young and Scott Arner will present the colors.

Music will be performed by Kate Pohlman and Kevin Murray, and Staff Sergeant Terrell Newby will offer the invocation and benediction.
Accessible parking will be available on the north side of the pavilion.

The City also reminds residents that the seventh annual Lincoln Veterans Parade takes place Sunday, Nov. 16, beginning at 2 p.m. and proceeding along “K” Street from South 21st to South 14th streets.

The Veterans Memorial Garden Advisory Council organizes events throughout the year, including programs for Memorial Day, Patriot Day, Veterans Day, and Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
