While the No. 1 Nebraska volleyball continues its streak of 14 straight sweeps, the Cornhuskers almost notched another: a sweep of the conference player of the week awards. Andi Jackson was named Big Ten co-Player of the Week, Laney Choboy snagged Defensive Player of the Week, while Bergen Reilly was named Setter of the Week. The Big Ten Freshman of the Week award was the only one not won or shared with a Husker.
Jackson split player of the week honors with Mimi Colyer of Wisconsin. She had the top hitting percentage in the nation last week, hitting .733 in matches against Illinois and Minnesota. Jackson notched 4.00 kills per set, terminating 24 times in the six sets. She was a perfect nine kills for nine attacks with four blocks against the Illini, then registered a season-high 15 kills on .619 hitting against the Gophers.
Choboy captured defensive player of the week honors after averaging 5.83 digs per set in the wins against Illinois and Minnesota. She had a career high 20 digs against the Illini, then tallied 15 against the Gophers Saturday.
Reilly earned setter of the week honors by averaging 12.33 assists per set. She quarterbacked Nebraska to hitting percentages of .488 against Illinois and .434 against Minnesota. The Huskers have hit over .300 in 15 straight matches. She added 2.17 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set in the two victories.
Nebraska is on the road this week, taking on UCLA Friday at 9 p.m., in Los Angeles. Pregame coverage begins at 8 p.m. on B-107.3 and KLIN. Then on Sunday, the Huskers face USC, with first serve at 2 p.m. and pregame at 1 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.
