The Lancaster County Assessor/Register of Deeds Office will temporarily relocate some of its services beginning December 8 to accommodate construction at the County-City Building.

The Register of Deeds and Homestead Exemption/Personal Property divisions will move to the former driver’s license facility at 500 West O Street. Office hours will remain 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Assessor/Register of Deeds Dan Nolte said the relocation is designed to keep services easily accessible while parking is limited during construction in the north lot of the County-City Building.

“We believe this situation would create a hardship for residents who rely on walk-in or in-person services,” Nolte said. “By moving these services to 500 West O Street, we’re making it easier for residents to access what they need without unnecessary inconvenience.”

Nolte added that many residents may not be familiar with downtown parking or bus routes, so keeping services at a more accessible location will help minimize confusion.

The temporary relocation will remain in place for the duration of the construction project.
