Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the Lincoln Salvation Army is once again partnering with local Hy-Vee Stores and Broadcast House Media for the annual “TurkeyThon”. The event collects cash donations that will provide Lincoln families with a Thanksgiving dinner.
Captain Kelsie Moreno-McCarter says on Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. customers at all Hy-Vee stores in Lincoln can make a donation at the register to help hundreds of families having trouble keeping their cupboards stocked.
She tells KLIN News every year the Salvation Army serves hundreds of families with a Thanksgiving meal. This year the need is up and Moreno says they expect to serve more than 650 families. “We want to make sure everyone has a reason to be thankful this season, and the donations collected through the annual TurkeyThon truly make a difference for area families in need,” Moreno-McCarter says.
KLIN sister station Froggy 98 will be broadcasting live at the Williamsburg Hy-Vee from 2-4 p.m. Friday. Those in need of a Thanksgiving meal can sign up at The Salvation Army. Call 402-474-6263 for application dates and times
