Lincoln Police are investigating a deadly two vehicle crash that happened around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon at 70th and ‘L’ Street. 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash. “The preliminary investigation determined an SUV was driving north on 70th and was attempting to turn left onto ‘L’ when it collided with a vehicle driving south on 70th,” says LPD Lt. Dustin Romshek.
Police say the driver of the vehicle turning onto ‘L’ died at a local hospital and the passenger was seriously injured. The driver of the southbound vehicle suffered minor injuries. The intersection will remain shut in all directions of travel while LPD investigators continue their work.
LPD urges drivers to find an alternate route to your destination for the time being. Drivers are reminded to follow officer instructions and obey all traffic cones to avoid driving through the crash scene.
The investigation is ongoing and will determine the identities of those involved, the vehicles and what happened leading up to the crash.
